एतच्छ्रुत्वा शुभं वाक्यं भरतस्य महात्मन: ।
अब्रुवन् मन्त्रिण: सर्वे वसिष्ठश्च पुरोहित: ॥२-११५-४॥
etacchrutvā śubhaṃ vākyaṃ bharatasya mahātmanaḥ |
abruvan mantriṇaḥ sarve vasiṣṭhaśca purohitaḥ ॥2-115-4॥
Translation
Hearing this auspicious speech of the high-souled Bharata, all the ministers and the family priest Vasistha spoke.

महात्मा भरत के इस कल्याणकारी (शुभ) वचन को सुनकर सभी मंत्रियों और पुरोहित वशिष्ठ ने कहा।
English Commentary
The reaction of the court is pivotal here. Bharata's speech is termed "shubham" (auspicious/good) despite it announcing his departure from the capital. This indicates that the ministers and Vasistha valued ethical integrity over conventional political optics. They recognize the "mahatman" (great soul) in Bharata. In a typical court, a king leaving the capital would be cause for alarm, but here it is celebrated as a righteous act because it upholds the lineage's values of truth and loyalty.

भरत के वचनों को यहाँ 'शुभं वाक्यं' (कल्याणकारी/पवित्र वचन) कहा गया है। यद्यपि राजा का राजधानी छोड़कर जाना राजनीतिक दृष्टि से असुरक्षित हो सकता था, किन्तु मंत्रियों और गुरु वशिष्ठ ने इसे 'शुभ' माना क्योंकि यह धर्म और सत्य पर आधारित था। 'महात्मन:' विशेषण भरत की महानता को दर्शाता है जिन्होंने सत्ता के लोभ को त्याग दिया। यह श्लोक यह दर्शाता है कि रघुकुल के मंत्रीगण और गुरुजन केवल सत्ता के नहीं, बल्कि धर्म के समर्थक थे और उन्होंने भरत के इस त्यागमय निर्णय का स्वागत किया।
