प्रतिप्रयाते भरते वसन् रामस्तपोवने ।
लक्षयामास सोद्वेगमथौत्सुक्यं तपस्विनाम् ॥२-११६-१॥
pratiprayāte bharate vasan rāmastapovane |
lakṣayāmāsa sodvegamathautsukyaṃ tapasvinām ॥2-116-1॥
Translation
While dwelling in the penance grove after Bharata had departed, Rama noticed anxiety and restlessness among the ascetics.

भरत के लौट जाने पर, तपोवन (चित्रकूट) में रहते हुए राम ने तपस्वियों के भीतर उद्विग्नता (घबराहट) और उत्सुकता (बेचैनी) लक्षित की।
English Commentary
This verse marks the beginning of Sarga 116. With Bharata's departure, the narrative focus shifts back to Rama in Chitrakuta. Instead of peace returning, Rama observes "udvega" (anxiety) and "autsukyam" (restlessness/eagerness to move) among the sages. This foreshadows the trouble caused by Rakshasas (demons) in the region. It highlights Rama's observant nature; despite his own emotional upheaval from the recent meeting, he remains attuned to the emotional state of the community around him.

यहाँ से दृश्य परिवर्तित होता है और ११६वां सर्ग आरम्भ होता है। भरत के जाने के बाद चित्रकूट में शांति होनी चाहिए थी, किन्तु राम एक नया तनाव महसूस करते हैं। तपस्वियों में 'उद्वेग' (भय/चिंता) और 'औत्सुक्यं' (बेचैनी/कहीं जाने की आतुरता) है। राम, जो एक संवेदनशील नायक हैं, अपने आसपास के वातावरण में आए इस सूक्ष्म बदलाव को तुरंत भांप लेते हैं। यह उनकी सजगता को दर्शाता है—वे अपने ही दुःख में नहीं खोए हैं, बल्कि अपने पड़ोसियों (ऋषियों) की मनस्थिति के प्रति भी सचेत हैं।
