अभिनन्द्य समापृच्छ्य समाधाय च राघवम् ।
स जगामाश्रमं त्यक्त्वा कुलै: कुलपति: सह ॥ ॥२-११६-२४॥
Abhinandya samāpṛcchya samādhāya ca rāghavam । Sa jagāmāśramaṃ tyaktvā kulaiḥ kulapatiḥ saha ॥ ॥2-116-24॥
Translation
Having applauded Rama, taken leave of him, and comforted him, the Chancellor of the hermitage left that ashram along with his groups of disciples.
हिंदी अनुवाद
तब उस कुलपति (आश्रम-प्रधान) ने राम का अभिनन्दन करके, उनसे विदा लेकर और (दुखी) राम को सांत्वना देकर, अपने कुल (शिष्य समूह) के साथ आश्रम छोड़कर प्रस्थान किया।
English Commentary
The hierarchy and protocol of the departure are emphasized. The leader is styled as Kulapati (Lord of the Clan/Community), indicating a massive responsibility. Interestingly, the sage comforts (samādhāya) Rama. Usually, the warrior comforts the priest, but here, recognizing Rama's distress at his inability to retain them, the sage reassures him. The departure is formal and graceful, involving blessings (abhinandya) and proper leave-taking (samāpṛcchya), ensuring that the separation is physical, not emotional or spiritual.
