कच्चिच्छुश्रूषमाणा व: शुश्रूषणपरा मयि ।
प्रमादाभ्युचितां वृत्तिं सीता युक्तं न वर्तते ॥२-११६-७॥
kaccicchuśrūṣamāṇā vaḥ śuśrūṣaṇaparā mayi |
pramādābhyucitāṃ vṛttiṃ sītā yuktaṃ na vartate ॥2-116-7॥
Translation
"Does Sita, who is intent on serving me and serving you all, not conduct herself appropriately out of inadvertence?"

मेरी सेवा में तत्पर रहने वाली सीता, जो आप सबकी भी सेवा करती है, कहीं उसने प्रमादवश ऐसा व्यवहार तो नहीं किया जो उचित न हो?
English Commentary
Rama concludes his inquiry by asking about Sita. He acknowledges her dedication ("shushrushanapara"—intent on service) to both him and the sages. However, he worries if she has, through "pramada" (inadvertence), failed in the "uchitam vrittim" (proper conduct) expected in a hermitage. This shows Rama's anxiety covering all bases—himself, his brother, and his wife. He wants to ensure that his presence as a householder-in-exile is not disrupting the spiritual peace of the ascetic community.

अंत में राम सीता के विषय में पूछते हैं। वे सीता के लिए 'शुश्रूषणपरा मयि' (मेरी सेवा में तत्पर) विशेषण का प्रयोग करते हैं। उन्हें आशंका है कि गृहस्थ जीवन से आई हुई सीता से अनजाने में आश्रम के कड़े नियमों के पालन में कोई चूक तो नहीं हो गयी। यह प्रश्न बहुत कोमल है क्योंकि सीता जनकनन्दिनी हैं और वन के कठोर जीवन की आदी नहीं हैं। राम यह सुनिश्चित करना चाहते हैं कि उनकी पत्नी के किसी अनैच्छिक कार्य से ऋषियों का मन तो नहीं दुखा।
