Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
एवं ब्रुवाणं तमृषिं तथेत्युक्त्वा स राघव: ।
सीतामुवाच धर्मज्ञामिदं वचनमुत्तमम् ॥ ॥२-११७-१३॥
Evaṃ bruvāṇaṃ tamṛṣiṃ tathetyuktvā sa rāghavaḥ । Sītāmuvāca dharmajñāmidam vacanamuttamam ॥ ॥2-117-13॥
Translation
When the Rishi spoke thus, Raghava replied "So be it" to him, and addressed the Knower of Dharma, Sita, with these excellent words.
हिंदी अनुवाद
ऋषि के ऐसा कहने पर, राघव ने "तथास्तु" (वैसा ही हो) कहकर, धर्म को जानने वाली सीता से यह उत्तम वचन कहा।
English Commentary
Rama’s compliance is immediate (tathetyuktvā - saying "let it be so"). He acts as the intermediary, conveying the sage's instruction to his wife. Sita is characterized as dharmajñām (knower of dharma), implying she already understands the spiritual protocol and the value of such an association. This mutual understanding of duty between Rama and Sita is a recurring theme.
हिंदी टीका
राम की आज्ञाकारी प्रकृति यहाँ पुनः प्रकट होती है। ऋषि के आदेश को वे तत्काल स्वीकार करते हैं। सीता के लिए यहाँ 'धर्मज्ञाम' विशेषण का प्रयोग हुआ है, जिसका अर्थ है कि सीता भी धर्म के मर्म को जानती हैं और उन्हें समझाने की आवश्यकता नहीं है कि बड़ों का आदर कैसे करना है। राम का 'वचनमुत्तमम्' (उत्तम वचन) अगले श्लोक में आता है, जो सीता के हित के लिए है।
