पत्नीं च समनुप्राप्तां वृद्धामामन्त्र्य सत्कृताम् ।
सान्त्वयामास धर्मज्ञ: सर्वभूतहिते रत: ॥ ॥२-११७-७॥
Patnīṃ ca samanuprāptāṃ vṛddhāmāmantrya satkṛtām । Sāntvayāmāsa dharmajñaḥ sarvabhūtahite rataḥ ॥ ॥2-117-7॥
Translation
The Knower of Dharma, who is devoted to the welfare of all beings, called his revered and aged wife who had arrived there, and comforted/introduced the guests through her presence.

समस्त प्राणियों के हित में लगे रहने वाले धर्मज्ञ ऋषि ने वहां उपस्थित अपनी पूजनीय और वृद्ध पत्नी को बुलाकर (राम, लक्ष्मण और सीता को) सांत्वना दी (उनका परिचय कराया)।
English Commentary
Atri is described as dharmajña (knower of righteousness) and devoted to the welfare of all (sarvabhūtahite rataḥ). Recognizing that Sita needs female companionship and maternal guidance in this rugged environment, he calls upon his wife. The description of the wife as vṛddhām (aged) and satkṛtām (revered) establishes her authority. Atri's action of involving his wife completes the familial atmosphere of the ashram, providing holistic comfort to the guests.

यहाँ ऋषि अत्रि के लिए 'सर्वभूतहिते रत:' (सभी प्राणियों के कल्याण में रत) विशेषण का प्रयोग हुआ है। वे जानते हैं कि सीता को एक स्त्री के मार्गदर्शन और स्नेह की आवश्यकता है, जो केवल उनकी पत्नी अनसूया ही दे सकती हैं। उन्होंने अपनी पत्नी को 'आमन्त्र्य' (बुलाकर) राम के परिवार से जोड़ा। 'सत्कृताम्' (सत्कार की गई/पूजनीय) शब्द अनसूया के उच्च आध्यात्मिक स्तर को दर्शाता है।
