Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
अनसूयां महाभागां तापसीं धर्मचारिणीम् ।
प्रतिगृह्णीष्व वैदेहीमब्रवीदृषिसत्तम: ।
रामाय चाचचक्षे तां तापसीं धर्मचारिणीम् ॥ ॥२-११७-८॥
Anasūyāṃ mahābhāgāṃ tāpasīṃ dharmacāriṇīm । Pratigṛhṇīṣva vaidehīmabravīdṛṣisattamaḥ । Rāmāya cācacakṣe tāṃ tāpasīṃ dharmacāriṇīm ॥ ॥2-117-8॥
Translation
The best of Sages said to the illustrious ascetic Anasuya, who practices righteousness, "Please receive Vaidehi." He also described that righteous ascetic woman to Rama.
हिंदी अनुवाद
ऋषिश्रेष्ठ अत्रि ने महाभाग, तपस्विनी और धर्म का आचरण करने वाली अनसूया से कहा—"तुम वैदेही (सीता) को स्वीकार करो (आतिथ्य दो)।" साथ ही उन्होंने राम को उस तपस्विनी धर्मचारिणी (अनसूया) के विषय में बताया।
English Commentary
This verse functions as a formal introduction. The Sage acts as a bridge between the royal couple and the ascetic matriarch. By instructing Anasuya to "receive" (pratigṛhṇīṣva) Vaidehi, he initiates a mentorship relationship. Simultaneously, he narrates Anasuya’s credentials to Rama. The repetition of tāpasīṃ dharmacāriṇīm (ascetic woman practicing dharma) emphasizes that her greatness stems from her personal penance and ethical conduct, making her an ideal role model for Sita.
हिंदी टीका
इस श्लोक में दो क्रियाएं साथ हो रही हैं। एक ओर अत्रि अपनी पत्नी अनसूया को सीता का स्वागत करने का निर्देश दे रहे हैं ('प्रतिगृह्णीष्व'), और दूसरी ओर वे राम को अनसूया का परिचय दे रहे हैं ('आचचक्षे')। 'अनसूया' का अर्थ है 'जिसमें असूया (ईर्ष्या/दोषदृष्टि) न हो'। ऋषि राम को अनसूया की महानता इसलिए बता रहे हैं ताकि राम को ज्ञात हो कि सीता किसके सान्निध्य में जा रही हैं। यह सीता के लिए एक आध्यात्मिक दीक्षा का क्षण है।
