सा त्वेवमुक्ता वैदेही त्वनसूया ऽनसूयया ।
प्रतिपूज्य वचो मन्दं प्रवक्तुमुपचक्रमे ॥ ॥२-११८-१॥
Sā tvevamuktā vaidehī tvanasūyā 'nasūyayā । Pratipūjya vaco mandaṃ pravaktumupacakrame ॥ ॥2-118-1॥
Translation
Being thus addressed by Anasuya (the un-envious one), Vaidehi honored her words and began to speak slowly/gently.

अनसूया (दोषरहित) द्वारा इस प्रकार कहे जाने पर, वैदेही (सीता) ने उनके वचनों का आदर (प्रतिपूजन) किया और धीरे-धीरे बोलना आरम्भ किया।
English Commentary
This verse marks the beginning of Sarga 118 (or the continuation of the dialogue). The text plays on the name Anasuya, implying she spoke without asuya (envy/malice). Sita’s reaction is exemplary: she first honors (Pratipujya) the advice given, showing she values it deeply. She then begins to speak Mandam (slowly, gently, or softly). This indicates her extreme respect; she does not rush to reply or sound defensive. It sets the stage for a reply that is as dignified and wise as the advice she just received.

यहाँ 118वां सर्ग आरम्भ होता है। श्लोक में 'अनसूया' शब्द का दो बार प्रयोग (नाम और विशेषण के रूप में) या अर्थांकरण बड़ा सुंदर है—अनसूया ने 'अनसूयया' (ईर्ष्या रहित भाव से) सीता को उपदेश दिया। सीता ने बड़ों की बात सुनकर तुरंत उत्तर नहीं दिया, बल्कि पहले उनके वचनों का 'प्रतिपूज्य' (अभिनंदन/सम्मान) किया। 'मन्दं' (धीरे/मधुरता से) बोलना सीता की शालीनता और विनय का प्रतीक है। उतावलेपन का अभाव और वाणी में संयम एक कुलीन स्त्री के लक्षण माने गए हैं।
