नैतदाश्चर्य्यमार्याया यन्मां त्वमनुभाषसे ।
विदितं तु ममाप्येतद्यथा नार्य्या: पतिर्गुरु: ॥ ॥२-११८-२॥
Naitadāścaryyamāryāyā yanmāṃ tvamanubhāṣase । Viditaṃ tu mamāpyetadyathā nāryyāḥ patirguruḥ ॥ ॥2-118-2॥
Translation
"It is no wonder that you, O noble lady, speak to me thus. But it is known to me also that the husband is the Guru for a woman."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"हे आर्या! आप जो मुझसे ऐसा कह रही हैं, इसमें कोई आश्चर्य नहीं है (क्योंकि यह आपके स्वभाव के अनुकूल है)। मुझे भी यह विदित (ज्ञात) है कि नारी के लिए पति ही गुरु है।"
English Commentary
Sita responds with grace. She states that it is not surprising for a noble soul (Arya) like Anasuya to speak of Dharma. However, Sita gently asserts her own knowledge, stating, "This is known to me also." This is crucial as it establishes Sita not as an ignorant girl needing instruction, but as an educated, cultured woman who is fully aware of her duties. She confirms her worldview that for a wife, the husband is the Guru (spiritual preceptor and master), validating Anasuya’s teachings while affirming her own upbringing.

सीता जी अत्यंत विनम्रता से उत्तर देती हैं। वे अनसूया के उपदेश को अनावश्यक नहीं बतातीं, बल्कि कहती हैं कि अनसूया जैसी तपस्विनी के मुख से ऐसी धर्म की बातें निकलना स्वाभाविक है ('न एतद् आश्चर्यम्')। साथ ही, सीता यह भी स्पष्ट करती हैं कि उन्हें अपने धर्म का ज्ञान है। 'विदितं तु ममाप्येतत्'—मुझे भी यह पता है। यह दर्शाता है कि सीता का पालन-पोषण जनकपुर में उच्च संस्कारों के बीच हुआ है और उन्हें अपने कर्तव्यों का भली-भांति भान है। वे पति को 'गुरु' (पूज्य/शिक्षक) मानती हैं।
