अङ्गरागेण दिव्येन लिप्ताङ्गी जनकात्मजे ।
शोभयिष्यसि भर्त्तारं यथा श्रीविष्णुमव्ययम् ॥ ॥२-११८-२०॥
Aṅgarāgeṇa divyena liptāṅgī janakātmaje । Śobhayiṣyasi bharttāraṃ yathā śrīviṣṇumavyayam ॥ ॥2-118-20॥
Translation
"O daughter of Janaka! With your limbs anointed with this divine unguent, you shall beautify your husband just as Shri (Lakshmi) beautifies the imperishable Vishnu."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"हे जनकनन्दिनी! इस दिव्य अंगराग को अपने अंगों पर लगाकर तुम अपने पति (श्रीराम) को उसी प्रकार शोभायमान करोगी (प्रसन्न करोगी), जैसे लक्ष्मी (श्री) अविनाशी भगवान विष्णु को सुशोभित करती हैं।"
English Commentary
This verse carries profound theological weight. Anasuya explicitly compares the couple to Shri (Goddess Lakshmi) and Vishnu. By saying Sita will 'beautify her husband,' Anasuya alludes to the concept that the Shakti (power/wife) is the glory of the Shaktiman (holder of power/husband). The beauty of Sita, enhanced by the divine unguent, is meant to inspire and please Rama. The use of the term Avyayam (imperishable) for Vishnu hints at the eternal nature of Rama, suggesting Anasuya’s insight into his avatarhood.
