सा वस्त्रमङ्गरागं च भूषणानि स्रजस्तथा ।
मैथिली प्रतिजग्राह प्रीतिदानमनुत्तमम् ॥ ॥२-११८-२१॥
Sā vastramaṅgarāgaṃ ca bhūṣaṇāni srajastathā । Maithilī pratijagrāha prītidānamanuttamam ॥ ॥2-118-21॥
Translation
"Maithili accepted the clothing, unguent, ornaments, and garlands as a supreme gift given out of love."

"मैथिली (सीता) ने वस्त्र, अंगराग, आभूषण और मालाओं को प्रेमपूर्वक दिए गए सर्वोत्तम दान (प्रीतिदान) के रूप में स्वीकार किया।"
English Commentary
Sita accepts the gifts, recognizing them as Pritidanam—a gift born of affection rather than charity. Refusing a persistent elder would be disrespectful. The text notes she accepted the Anuttamam (unsurpassed/supreme) gifts. This exchange cements the bond between the ascetic tradition (Anasuya) and the royal/dharmic tradition (Sita), equipping Sita physically and spiritually for the challenges ahead (including her captivity in Lanka, where texts suggest these garments kept her divine aura intact).

सीता ने पहले इनकार किया था, लेकिन अब अनसूया के आग्रह और प्रेम को देखकर उन्होंने उपहार स्वीकार कर लिए। इसे 'प्रीतिदान' कहा गया है—वह दान जो दया करके नहीं, बल्कि प्रेम और स्नेह के कारण दिया जाए। 'प्रतिजग्राह' का अर्थ है आदरपूर्वक ग्रहण करना। बड़ों की आज्ञा का पालन करना और उनके प्रसाद को स्वीकार करना भी शिष्टाचार का अंग है। सीता ने 'अनुत्तमम्' (जिससे उत्तम कुछ न हो) उपहार को सिर-माथे लगाया।
