प्रतिगृह्य च तत् सीता प्रीतिदानं यशस्विनी ।
श्लिष्टाञ्जलिपुटा तत्र समुपास्त तपोधनाम् ॥ ॥२-११८-२२॥
Pratigṛhya ca tat sītā prītidānaṃ yaśasvinī । Śliṣṭāñjalipuṭā tatra samupāsta tapodhanām ॥ ॥2-118-22॥
Translation
"Having accepted that gift of love, the illustrious Sita sat there near the ascetic lady with joined palms."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"उस प्रेमपूर्ण दान को स्वीकार करके यशस्विनी सीता हाथ जोड़कर वहीं उस तपोधना (अनसूया) के पास (सेवा भाव से) बैठ गईं।"
English Commentary
After receiving the gifts, Sita does not display vanity. Instead, she remains Shlishtanjaliputa—with palms joined in reverence. She sits near (Samupasta) Anasuya, indicating her desire to continue serving and listening to the sage-wife. The term Tapodhanam (one whose wealth is penance) for Anasuya contrasts with the material wealth she just gifted; she gave away material goods because her true wealth is spiritual.

उपहार पाकर सीता के व्यवहार में कोई परिवर्तन नहीं आया; वे विनम्रता की मूर्ति बनी रहीं। 'श्लिष्टाञ्जलिपुटा' (जुड़े हुए हाथों के साथ) बैठना उनकी कृतज्ञता और सेवाभाव को दर्शाता है। 'समुपास्त' का अर्थ है पास बैठना या उपासना करना। सीता 'यशस्विनी' हैं, लेकिन उनका यश उनके अहंकार में नहीं, बल्कि उनकी विनय में है। वे उपहार पाकर तुरंत चली नहीं गईं, बल्कि अनसूया के पास बैठकर सत्संग का लाभ उठाने लगीं।
