एवमुक्ता तु सा सीता तां ततो धर्मचारिणीम् ।
श्रूयतामिति चोक्त्वा वै कथयामास तां कथाम् ॥ ॥२-११८-२६॥
Evamuktā tu sā sītā tāṃ tato dharmacāriṇīm । Śrūyatāmiti coktvā vai kathayāmāsa tāṃ kathām ॥ ॥2-118-26॥
Translation
Being thus addressed, Sita said to that righteous lady, "Please listen," and indeed began to narrate that story.

उन (अनसूया) के द्वारा इस प्रकार कहे जाने पर, सीता ने उस धर्मचारिणी से "सुनिए" कहकर वह कथा सुनानी आरम्भ की।
English Commentary
Sita readily agrees. By saying Shruyatam ('Let it be heard' or 'Please listen'), she formally begins the narration. This verse serves as a narrative bridge, transitioning the text from the present dialogue in the hermitage to the flashback of the wedding in Mithila. Addressing Anasuya as Dharmacharini implies Sita considers her a worthy audience for the sacred tale of her marriage to the Avatar.

सीता सहर्ष तैयार हो जाती हैं। 'श्रूयताम्' (सुनिए) कहकर वे आदरपूर्वक अपनी बात शुरू करती हैं। यह श्लोक एक भूमिका (prologue) की तरह है जो अगले सर्गों में आने वाले सीता-विवाह के विस्तृत वर्णन का द्वार खोलता है। सीता अनसूया को 'धर्मचारिणी' मानती हैं, इसलिए उनके सामने अपने जीवन की पवित्र घटनाओं को साझा करने में उन्हें कोई संकोच नहीं है। यहाँ से कथा फ्लैशबैक (flashback) में जाएगी।
