तच्च दृष्ट्वा धनु: श्रेष्ठं गौरवाद्गिरिसन्निभम् ।
अभिवाद्य नृपा जग्मुरशक्तास्तस्य तोलने ॥२-११८-४३॥
tacca dṛṣṭvā dhanuḥ śreṣṭhaṃ gauravādgirisannibham । abhivādya nṛpā jagmuraśaktāstasya tolane ॥2-118-43॥
Translation
Seeing that excellent bow, which resembled a mountain due to its immense weight, the kings, unable to even weigh (lift) it, saluted it and departed.

उस श्रेष्ठ धनुष को देखकर, जो अपने भारीपन के कारण पर्वत के समान (विशाल) लग रहा था, राजा लोग उसे उठाने (तोलने) में असमर्थ होकर, उसे केवल प्रणाम करके चले गए।
English Commentary
The prowess of the accumulated kings is contrasted against the impossible task. The simile Girisannibham (like a mountain) conveys both size and immovability. The kings' reaction—saluting (Abhivadya) and leaving—shows that they recognized the task was superhuman. They didn't just fail; they revered the weapon's power and accepted their incapacity (Ashakta). This mass failure of earthly kings heightens the anticipation for the arrival of the divine hero.

यहाँ अन्य राजाओं की विवशता का चित्रण है। धनुष की तुलना 'गिरिसन्निभम्' (पर्वत के समान) से की गई है, जो उसकी अचल स्थिति को दर्शाता है। राजाओं ने प्रयास करने से पहले ही हार मान ली या थोड़ा प्रयास करके समझ गए कि यह उनके बस का नहीं है। 'अभिवाद्य' (प्रणाम करके) शब्द महत्वपूर्ण है; उन्होंने धनुष की दिव्यता को स्वीकार किया और अपनी हार को विनम्रता से स्वीकार करते हुए चले गए। यह राम के आगमन से पहले की पृष्ठभूमि तैयार करता है।
