विश्वामित्रस्तु धर्मात्मा मम पित्रा सुपूजित: ।
प्रोवाच पितरं तत्र भ्रातरौ रामलक्ष्मणौ ॥२-११८-४५॥
viśvāmitrastu dharmātmā mama pitrā supūjitaḥ । provāca pitaraṃ tatra bhrātarau rāmalakṣmaṇau ॥2-118-45॥
Translation
The righteous Vishvamitra was well-worshipped by my father. Then, he spoke to my father about the two brothers, Rama and Lakshmana.
हिंदी अनुवाद
मेरे पिता ने धर्मात्मा विश्वामित्र का विधिवत पूजन (सत्कार) किया। तदनंतर विश्वामित्र ने मेरे पिता से उन दोनों भाइयों—राम और लक्ष्मण—के विषय में बात की।
English Commentary
The protocol of respecting sages is observed strictly. Janaka, the King, worships (Supujita) the sage Vishvamitra before any business is transacted. This interaction is pivotal; Vishvamitra acts as the divine instrument bringing the Groom (Rama) to the Bride's father. By introducing the brothers, Vishvamitra initiates the process that will lead to the breaking of the bow, acting with the authority of a spiritual guide.

अतिथि सत्कार की वैदिक परंपरा का निर्वाह यहाँ दिखता है। जनक ने पहले ऋषि का पूजन ('सुपूजित:') किया। उसके बाद ही वार्तालाप आरम्भ हुआ। विश्वामित्र यहाँ गुरु और मध्यस्थ की भूमिका में हैं। उन्होंने ही राम और लक्ष्मण का परिचय राजा जनक से कराया। 'धर्मात्मा' विशेषण विश्वामित्र के लिए प्रयुक्त है, जो यह विश्वास दिलाता है कि उनका प्रस्ताव धर्मसम्मत और कल्याणकारी ही होगा।
