मम चैवानुजा साध्वी ऊर्मिला प्रियदर्शना ।
भार्य्यार्थे लक्ष्मणस्यापि दत्ता पित्रा मम स्वयम् ॥२-११८-५३॥
mama caivānujā sādhvī ūrmilā priyadarśanā । bhāryyārthe lakṣmaṇasyāpi dattā pitrā mama svayam ॥2-118-53॥
Translation
My younger sister, the virtuous and pleasant-looking Urmila, was also given by my father himself to Lakshmana to be his wife.

मेरी छोटी बहन, साध्वी और प्रियदर्शना (सुंदर दिखने वाली) ऊर्मिला भी, मेरे पिता द्वारा स्वयं लक्ष्मण को पत्नी रूप में दी गई।
English Commentary
Sita completes the narrative of the weddings by mentioning her sister. Urmila is described as Sadhvi (virtuous) and Priyadarshana (pleasant to look at). This verse confirms that the alliance was a double union between the houses of Mithila and Ayodhya. Janaka himself (Svayam) offered Urmila to Lakshmana, recognizing the younger brother's merit. This inclusion highlights the close bond between the two sisters and the two brothers, which is central to the Ramayana's family dynamics.

सीता जी अपनी कथा में अपनी बहन ऊर्मिला का स्मरण करती हैं। 'साध्वी' (गुणवान/पवित्र) और 'प्रियदर्शना' (देखने में सुखद) विशेषण ऊर्मिला के बाह्य और आंतरिक सौंदर्य को व्यक्त करते हैं। यह श्लोक बताता है कि राम-सीता के विवाह के साथ ही लक्ष्मण-ऊर्मिला का सम्बन्ध भी राजा जनक ने ही निश्चित किया था। 'स्वयम्' शब्द दर्शाता है कि जनक ने लक्ष्मण के गुणों को परखकर, अपनी दूसरी पुत्री के लिए उन्हें भी दामाद के रूप में व्यक्तिगत रूप से चुना।
