आगच्छन्त्याश्च विजनं वनमेवं भयावहम् ।
समाहितं मे श्वश्र्वा च हृदये तद्धृतं महत् ॥ ॥२-११८-७॥
Āgacchantyāśca vijanaṃ vanamevaṃ bhayāvaham । Samāhitaṃ me śvaśrvā ca hṛdaye taddhṛtaṃ mahat ॥ ॥2-118-7॥
Translation
"While coming to this fearful forest devoid of people, the instruction given to me by my mother-in-law was great, and it is held firm in my heart."

"इस जनशून्य और भयानक वन में आते समय मेरी सास (कौशल्या) ने मुझे जो (पातिव्रत्य धर्म का) उपदेश दिया था, वह महान उपदेश मेरे हृदय में धारण किया हुआ है।"
English Commentary
Sita assures Anasuya that she carries the wisdom of her elders. She recalls the counsel of her mother-in-law, Kausalya, given at the tragic moment of departure for the Bhayavaham Vanam (terrifying forest). Despite the trauma of separation, Kausalya’s focus was on Sita’s duty to Rama. Sita cherishes this instruction (Samahitam), keeping it locked in her heart. This verse illustrates that Sita acts not just on instinct, but on the internalized values imparted by the matriarchs of her family.

सीता अनसूया को बताती हैं कि पातिव्रत्य की शिक्षा उन्हें नई नहीं मिली है। वनवास के लिए प्रस्थान करते समय, जब कौशल्या अत्यंत दुखी थीं, तब भी उन्होंने सीता को पति-सेवा का ही उपदेश दिया था। सीता उस उपदेश को 'महत्' (महान) मानती हैं और कहती हैं कि वह उनके हृदय में सुरक्षित है। यह श्लोक सास-बहू के पवित्र रिश्ते और परम्परागत ज्ञान के हस्तांतरण (transmission of wisdom) को दर्शाता है। 'भयावहम् वनम्' का उल्लेख यह स्पष्ट करता है कि उस कठिन वातावरण में वही उपदेश उनका संबल बना हुआ है।
