Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
गम्यतामनुजानामि रामस्यानुचरी भव ।
कथयन्त्या हि मधुरं त्वयाहं परितोषिता ॥२-११९-९॥
Gamyatāmanujānāmi rāmasyānucarī bhava । Kathayantyā hi madhuraṃ tvayāhaṃ paritoṣitā ॥ ॥2-119-9॥
Translation
(Anasuya said) You may go now; I grant you permission. Be the companion/follower of Rama. I am indeed very pleased and satisfied by your sweet conversation.
हिंदी अनुवाद
(अनसूया ने कहा) अब तुम जाओ, मैं तुम्हें अनुमति देती हूँ। तुम श्री राम की अनुगामिनी बनो। तुम्हारी मधुर बातचीत से मैं अत्यंत संतुष्ट और प्रसन्न हुई हूँ।
English Commentary
This verse marks the affectionate conclusion of the dialogue between Anasuya and Sita. As a senior ascetic and mother figure, Anasuya grants Sita permission to depart. The phrase "rāmasyānucarī bhava" (be a follower of Rama) is significant; it is not merely an instruction to walk behind him, but a blessing to fulfill her dharma as a wife by accompanying him through all joys and sorrows. Anasuya expresses deep satisfaction with Sita's "sweet conversation," highlighting that Sita impressed the sage's wife not just with her obedience, but with her intelligence and articulate speech. This moment signifies Sita's spiritual fortification before she enters the deeper, more dangerous forests.
