मया च रामेण सलक्ष्मणेन ।
प्रशास्तु हीनो भरतस्त्वया सह ।
पुरम् च राष्ट्रम् च निहत्य बान्धवान् ।
ममाहितानाम् च भवाभिहर्षिणी ॥२-१२-१०८॥
Mayā ca rāmeṇa salakṣmaṇena |
Praśāstu hīno bharatastvayā saha |
Puram ca rāṣṭram ca nihatya bāndhavān |
Mamāhitānām ca bhavābhiharṣiṇī ॥2-12-108॥
Translation
Let Bharata, bereft of me, Rama, and Lakshmana, rule this city and kingdom along with you. Having destroyed your kinsmen, may you become a source of joy to my enemies.
हिंदी अनुवाद
मुझसे, राम से और लक्ष्मण से रहित होकर भरत तुम्हारे साथ इस नगर और राष्ट्र पर शासन करे। अपने बन्धुओं को मारकर (नष्ट करके) तुम मेरे शत्रुओं को हर्षित करने वाली बनो।
English Commentary
King Dasharatha speaks with biting sarcasm and profound grief. He paints a picture of a hollow victory for Kaikeyi. By saying Bharata will rule "deprived of me, Rama, and Lakshmana," he implies his own death is certain upon Rama's departure. He accuses Kaikeyi of essentially slaughtering her own family ("nihatya bāndhavān") metaphorically. The sting lies in the final phrase: by destroying the unity of the Ikshvaku clan, she is effectively serving the interests of Dasharatha's enemies ("ahitānām"), who will rejoice at this internal fracturing of a powerful kingdom.
हिंदी टीका
राजा दशरथ यहाँ अत्यंत कड़वे व्यंग्य (sarcasm) और हताशा का प्रयोग कर रहे हैं। वे भविष्य की एक ऐसी तस्वीर खींचते हैं जहाँ अयोध्या तो होगी, पर वह रक्षकों से खाली होगी। 'मया च रामेण सलक्ष्मणेन हीनो' का अर्थ है कि राम और लक्ष्मण के वन जाने के बाद दशरथ जीवित नहीं रहेंगे, अतः भरत को एक 'शून्य' राज्य मिलेगा। दशरथ कैकेयी पर आरोप लगाते हैं कि वह 'बान्धवान् निहत्य' (अपनों को मारकर) शत्रुओं को खुश कर रही है। एक राजा के लिए इससे बड़ी पराजय नहीं हो सकती कि उसके घर के कलह से बाहरी शत्रुओं को आनंद मिले।
