रामो हि भरताद्भूयस्तव शुश्रूष्ते सदा ।
विशेषम् त्वयि तस्मात्तु भरतस्य न लक्षये ॥२-१२-२५॥
rāmo hi bharatādbhūyastava śuśrūṣte sadā । viśeṣam tvayi tasmāttu bharatasya na lakṣaye ॥2-12-25॥
Translation
Indeed, Rama serves you even more than Bharata does. Therefore, I do not see any special distinction in Bharata (compared to Rama) regarding devotion to you.
हिंदी अनुवाद
राम तो भरत से भी अधिक तुम्हारी सेवा (और आदर) सदा करता है। इसलिए मैं नहीं देखता कि भरत का तुम्हारे प्रति (राम से) अधिक विशेष प्रेम या सेवा-भाव है।
English Commentary
Dasharatha presents a stark reality check. He reminds Kaikeyi that although Bharata is her biological son, he has spent much time away, whereas Rama has always been present to serve her. He asserts that Rama's devotion actually exceeds Bharata's. The King uses this comparison to question her motive: why favor the son who is distant over the son who has actively demonstrated superior filial piety? Dasharatha argues that in terms of merit and service to the mother, Rama holds the higher ground, making her betrayal even more tragic.

यहाँ दशरथ एक कड़वा सच सामने रखते हैं। वे कैकेयी को याद दिलाते हैं कि सगा बेटा होते हुए भी भरत ननिहाल में रहा है, जबकि राम ने पास रहकर कैकेयी की अधिक सेवा की है। दशरथ तुलनात्मक रूप से कहते हैं कि सेवा और आदर के मामले में राम, भरत से भी आगे हैं। राजा का तर्क यह है कि यदि पुत्र का धर्म माता की सेवा करना है, तो राम उस कसौटी पर भरत से अधिक खरे उतरे हैं। वे कैकेयी को यह सोचने पर मजबूर करना चाहते हैं कि वह उस पुत्र का अहित क्यों कर रही है जो वास्तव में उसका सबसे बड़ा भक्त है।
