Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
भवत्वधर्मो धर्मो वा सत्यम् वा यदि वानृतम् ।
यत्त्वया सम्श्रुतम् मह्यम् तस्य नास्ति व्यतिक्रमः ॥२-१२-४६॥
bhavatvadharmo dharmo vā satyam vā yadi vānṛtam । yattvayā samśrutam mahyam tasya nāsti vyatikramaḥ ॥2-12-46॥
Translation
Whether it be unrighteousness or righteousness, truth or falsehood, there can be no deviation from what you have promised to me.
हिंदी अनुवाद
चाहे यह (मेरा मांगना) धर्म हो या अधर्म, सत्य हो या झूठ, तुमने मुझसे जो प्रतिज्ञा की है, उसका उल्लंघन नहीं हो सकता (उससे फिरा नहीं जा सकता)।
English Commentary
This verse represents the pinnacle of Kaikeyi's obstinacy. She dismisses all moral debates regarding her demand. She asserts that whether her request is Dharma or Adharma, Satyam (truth) or Anṛtam (falsehood/wrong), it is irrelevant. The only thing that matters is the contract: yattvayā samśrutam (what was promised by you). She enforces a rigid, absolute interpretation of duty where the act of keeping a promise supersedes the morality of the outcome. There is no vyatikramaḥ (deviation/exception) allowed, regardless of the consequences.
हिंदी टीका
यह कैकेयी के हठ की पराकाष्ठा है। वह नैतिक सापेक्षवाद (Moral Relativism) को खारिज करती है। राजा ने तर्क दिया था कि यह अधर्म है, लेकिन कैकेयी कहती है—'धर्म हो या अधर्म', मुझे इससे मतलब नहीं। मुद्दा कृत्य की नैतिकता का नहीं, बल्कि 'वचन' की पवित्रता का है। एक बार वचन दे दिया, तो उसे पूरा करना ही होगा, चाहे परिणाम कितना भी भयानक क्यों न हो। यह एक अत्यंत कठोर और यांत्रिक (mechanical) धर्म की व्याख्या है, जहाँ संदर्भ (context) और करुणा (compassion) के लिए कोई स्थान नहीं है।
