अहम् हि विषमद्यैव पीत्वा बहु तवाग्रतः ।
पश्यतस्ते मरिष्यामि रामो यद्यभिषिच्यते ॥२-१२-४७॥
aham hi viṣamadyaiva pītvā bahu tavāgrataḥ । paśyataste mariṣyāmi rāmo yadyabhiṣicyate ॥2-12-47॥
Translation
Indeed, if Rama is consecrated, I will drink deadly poison right here in front of you today and die while you watch.
हिंदी अनुवाद
(निश्चय ही) यदि राम का अभिषेक होता है, तो मैं आज ही तुम्हारे सामने विष पीकर, तुम्हारे देखते-देखते अपने प्राण त्याग दूँगी।
English Commentary
Having exhausted arguments about dharma and lineage, Kaikeyi delivers her ultimatum: suicide. She threatens to drink poison (viṣam) that very day, right in front of him (tavāgrataḥ), if he proceeds with the coronation. This is pure emotional blackmail designed to force the King's hand through guilt and fear. By stating she will die paśyataste (while you watch), she places the direct responsibility of her death on Dasharatha. The King is now cornered; proceeding with Rama's coronation equates to killing his wife.

जब सारे तर्क समाप्त हो जाते हैं, तो कैकेयी अपना अंतिम अस्त्र चलाती है—आत्महत्या की धमकी। यह भावनात्मक ब्लैकमेल (Emotional Blackmail) है। वह स्पष्ट कहती है कि अगर राम का राज्याभिषेक हुआ, तो दशरथ को अपनी पत्नी की लाश देखनी होगी। 'तवाग्रतः' (तुम्हारे सामने) और 'पश्यतस्ते' (तुम्हारे देखते हुए)—इन शब्दों का प्रयोग दशरथ को भयभीत करने के लिए किया गया है ताकि वे ग्लानि (guilt) से भर जाएं। अब राजा के पास केवल दो विकल्प हैं: राम का वनवास या कैकेयी की मृत्यु।
