Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
भोगकाले महत्कृच्छ्रम् पुनरेव प्रपत्स्यते ।
नालम् द्वितीयम् वचनम् पुत्रो माम् प्रति भाषितुम् ॥२-१२-८४॥
Bhogakāle mahatkṛcchram punareva prapatsyate । Nālam dvitīyam vacanam putro mām prati bhāṣitum ॥2-12-84॥
Translation
At the time of enjoyment (coronation), he will instead encounter great misery. Yet, my son is not capable of speaking a second word contrary to me (he will not argue).

राज्याभिषेक (भोग) के समय उसे (राम को) पुनः महान कष्ट प्राप्त होगा। मेरा पुत्र राम, मेरी आज्ञा के विरुद्ध दूसरा शब्द बोलने में समर्थ नहीं है (वह पलटकर जवाब नहीं देगा)।
English Commentary
King Dasharatha highlights the cruel irony of the situation and Rama's unwavering obedience. The term Bhogakaale refers to the moment of coronation, a time for joy and luxury, which is now being instantly replaced by Mahatkrichchram (great hardship/exile). Dasharatha's anguish is deepened by his knowledge of Rama's character. He knows Rama will not speak a 'second word' (dvitiyam vachanam)—meaning he will not argue, question, or negotiate. This absolute obedience, usually a virtue, feels like a curse to Dasharatha right now because he is being forced to command his innocent son to ruin, knowing the son will accept it silently.

महाराज दशरथ यहाँ राम के स्वभाव और आने वाली विडंबना का चित्रण कर रहे हैं। 'भोगकाले' का अर्थ है वह समय जब राम को राजसुख मिलना चाहिए था, ठीक उसी क्षण उन पर 'महत्कृच्छ्रम्' (महान विपत्ति) टूट पड़ेगी। दशरथ की पीड़ा का मुख्य कारण राम की पितृभक्ति है। वे जानते हैं कि राम 'एकवचनी' हैं; यदि पिता वन जाने को कहेंगे, तो राम "क्यों?" नहीं पूछेंगे, न ही कोई तर्क करेंगे। यह आज्ञाकारिता दशरथ के लिए गर्व का विषय होने के बजाय अभी उनके हृदय को विदीर्ण कर रही है, क्योंकि वे जानते हैं कि वे एक निर्दोष पुत्र को दंड दे रहे हैं जो अपनी सफाई में कुछ नहीं कहेगा।
