Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
प्रतिकूलम् प्रियम् मे स्यान्न तु वत्सः करिष्यति ।
शुद्धिभावो हि भावम् मे न तु ज्ञास्यति राघवः ॥२-१२-८६॥
Pratikūlam priyam me syānna tu vatsaḥ kariṣyati । Śuddhibhāvo hi bhāvam me na tu jñāsyati rāghavaḥ ॥2-12-86॥
Translation
Even though this (exile) is unfavorable to him, my dear child will do it thinking it is pleasing to me; he will not refuse. Being of pure heart, Raghava will not realize my true (helpless) state of mind.
हिंदी अनुवाद
यद्यपि यह (वनवास) उसके (राम के) प्रतिकूल है, फिर भी वह इसे मेरा प्रिय कार्य समझकर ही करेगा, वह मेरा विरोध नहीं करेगा। शुद्ध हृदय वाला राघव मेरे (विवशता पूर्ण) भाव को नहीं जान पाएगा।
English Commentary
Dasharatha laments that Rama’s innocence and purity (Shuddha-bhava) will work against him. Rama will assume that the command to go to the forest is his father's genuine desire, and because he wishes to please his father, he will accept this unfavorable (Pratikulam) fate without hesitation. He will not realize that Dasharatha is actually trapped by a boon and coerced by Kaikeyi. Dasharatha grieves that his son will sacrifice his kingdom thinking it is an act of love for his father, unaware of the treachery behind the command.
हिंदी टीका
दशरथ कहते हैं कि राम का हृदय इतना पवित्र (शुद्धिभावो) है कि वे कुटिलता या राजनीति नहीं समझते। जब दशरथ उन्हें वन जाने को कहेंगे, तो राम सोचेंगे कि पिता स्वेच्छा से ऐसा कह रहे हैं और इसमें पिता की प्रसन्नता है। वे यह नहीं समझ पाएंगे कि दशरथ कैकेयी के जाल में फँसकर, विवश होकर यह कह रहे हैं। राम का यह भोलापन और पिता के प्रति अटूट प्रेम दशरथ को अंदर ही अंदर जला रहा है। वे जानते हैं कि राम अपने हित (प्रतिकूलम्) का त्याग कर देंगे केवल इसलिए क्योंकि उन्हें लगेगा कि यह पिता की इच्छा है।
