मृत्युरक्षमणीयम् माम् नयिष्यति यमक्षयम् ।
राघवे हि वनम् प्राप्ते सर्वलोकस्य धिक्कृतम् ॥२-१२-८८॥
Mṛtyurakṣamaṇīyam mām nayiṣyati yamakṣayam । Rāghave hi vanam prāpte sarvalokasya dhikkṛtam ॥2-12-88॥
Translation
Once Raghava has gone to the forest, amidst the condemnation of the whole world, death will carry me—who is unforgivable—to the abode of Yama.
हिंदी अनुवाद
राम के वन चले जाने पर संसार मुझे धिक्कारेगा और मृत्यु मुझ अक्षम्य (जिसे क्षमा नहीं किया जा सकता) अपराधी को यमराज के घर (यमक्षयम्) ले जाएगी।
English Commentary
Dasharatha predicts his immediate demise following Rama's exile. He describes himself as akshamaniyam (unforgivable), acknowledging the gravity of the sin he is about to commit against his son. He foresees that the grief of separation, combined with the weight of public condemnation, will lead him straight to Yamakshayam (the abode of the God of Death). This verse connects the physical act of exile to the metaphysical consequence of death for the father, emphasizing that Dasharatha's life force is entirely tethered to Rama.

दशरथ यहाँ अपनी मृत्यु की भविष्यवाणी कर रहे हैं। वे स्वयं को 'अक्षमणीय' (क्षमा के अयोग्य) मानते हैं। हिंदू धर्म में पुत्र के साथ अन्याय करना, विशेषकर ज्येष्ठ और गुणवान पुत्र के साथ, घोर पाप माना जाता है। दशरथ को लगता है कि राम के वियोग में उनके प्राण नहीं बचेंगे। यहाँ 'यमक्षयम्' का अर्थ है यमराज का निवास। दशरथ का कहना है कि राम के वन जाते ही, उनके जीवन का अंत हो जाएगा और वे कलंक का टीका लेकर मृत्यु को प्राप्त होंगे। यह उनकी हताशा की चरम सीमा है।
