English Commentary
This verse bridges Dasharatha's speech and the narrator's voice. Dasharatha concludes his lament by foreseeing his "akīrti" (infamy) and "paribhava" (defeat/humiliation). He knows his legacy is ruined. The narrator then describes him as "paribhramitacetasaḥ"—one whose mind is wandering or spinning. The trauma has induced a state of delirium. He is not just sad; he is cognitively unraveling under the pressure of the impending separation from his son.
