शून्येन खलु सुश्रोणि मयेदं समुदाहृतम् ।
कुरु साधु प्रसादं मे बाले सहृदया ह्यसि ॥ ॥२-१३-२१॥
Śūnyena khalu suśroṇi mayedaṃ samudāhṛtam । Kuru sādhu prasādaṃ me bāle sahṛdayā hyasi ॥ ॥2-13-21॥
Translation
O beautiful one! Whatever I uttered (in anger) was indeed spoken with a vacant mind (delirium). O young one, do me this favor; for you are surely kind-hearted.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे सुंदरी! मैंने (क्रोध में) जो कुछ कहा, वह शून्य (बेसुध/विवेकहीन) मन से कहा था। हे बाले! तुम मुझ पर कृपा करो, क्योंकि तुम तो सहृदय (अच्छे हृदय वाली) हो।
English Commentary
Dasharatha attempts damage control for his earlier outburst, claiming he spoke out of a 'vacant mind' or delirium (shunyena). He resorts to flattery, using physical endearments like suśroṇi (beautiful hips/waist) and bāle (young girl), trying to rekindle romantic affection to bypass her political ambition. He projects the virtue of being sahṛdayā (good-hearted) onto her, hoping that by labeling her as kind, she might feel compelled to act kindly. It is a desperate attempt to rewrite the reality of her cruelty.

राजा दशरथ अपनी पिछली क्रोधपूर्ण बातों (श्लोक 18) के लिए क्षमा मांगते हैं, यह कहते हुए कि वे 'शून्य' या बेसुध थे। वे अपनी पत्नी को 'सुश्रोणि' (सुंदर अंगों वाली) और 'बाले' (युवती) कहकर उसके नारी सुलभ अहं को तुष्ट करने का प्रयास कर रहे हैं। वे उसे 'सहृदया' (दयालु) कहते हैं, जो कि विडंबनापूर्ण है, क्योंकि वे जानते हैं कि वह वर्तमान में निर्दयी है। यह रणनीति है—सामने वाले पर अच्छाई का आरोपण करना ताकि वह शर्मिंदा होकर अच्छा व्यवहार करे।
