समयं च ममार्य इमं यदि त्वं न करिष्यसि ।
अग्रतस्ते परित्यक्ता परित्यक्ष्यामि जीवितम् ॥ ॥२-१४-१०॥
Samayaṃ ca mamārya imaṃ yadi tvaṃ na kariṣyasi । Agrataḥ te parityaktā parityakṣyāmi jīvitam ॥ ॥2-14-10॥
Translation
O Arya! If you do not fulfill this promise to me, then, feeling rejected by you, I shall give up my life right here in front of you.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे आर्य! यदि तुम मेरी इस प्रतिज्ञा (मांग) को पूरा नहीं करोगे, तो मैं तुम्हारे द्वारा त्यागी हुई मानकर, तुम्हारे सामने ही अपने प्राण त्याग दूंगी।
English Commentary
The ultimate weapon in Kaikeyi's arsenal is the threat of suicide. She threatens to die agrataḥ te (right in front of you). This puts Dasharatha in an impossible bind: exile his beloved son or bear the guilt of his wife's death (and the stigma of driving her to it). By addressing him as Arya (Noble one), she ironically highlights un-noble consequences. She frames herself as the victim (parityaktā - abandoned/rejected) if he refuses, ensuring he feels like a murderer if he says no.

जब दर्शन और तर्क काम नहीं आए, तो कैकेयी अपनी सबसे बड़ी धमकी देती है—आत्महत्या। वह कहती है 'अग्रतस्ते' (तुम्हारे सामने ही) मैं मर जाऊंगी। दशरथ जैसे प्रेमी और रक्षक पति के लिए यह सबसे भयानक कल्पना है कि उनकी पत्नी उनके कारण आत्महत्या कर ले। इससे राजा पर 'स्त्री-हत्या' का पाप भी लगता। कैकेयी जानती है कि दशरथ राम के वियोग में मर सकते हैं, लेकिन वे अपनी पत्नी की मृत्यु का कारण नहीं बनना चाहेंगे। यह भावनात्मक अत्याचार की पराकाष्ठा है।
