Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
धर्मस्यैवाभिकामार्थं मम चैवाभिचोदनात् ।
प्रव्राजय सुतं रामं त्रिः खलु त्वां ब्रवीम्यहम् ॥ ॥२-१४-९॥
Dharmasyaivābhikāmārthaṃ mama caivābhicodanāt । Pravrājaya sutaṃ Rāmaṃ triḥ khalu tvāṃ bravīmyaham ॥ ॥2-14-9॥
Translation
For the sake of Dharma, and at my instigation, send your son Rama into exile! I tell you this three times indeed.

धर्म की इच्छा (पालन) के लिए और मेरी प्रेरणा (आग्रह) से, तुम अपने पुत्र राम को वनवास भेजो। मैं तुमसे तीन बार यह बात कह रही हूँ (ताकि कोई संशय न रहे)।
English Commentary
Kaikeyi delivers her ultimatum with ritualistic finality. She demands the exile (pravrājaya) explicitly. The phrase triḥ khalu (three times indeed) is significant; in Vedic tradition, repeating a statement three times makes it a binding vow or an unalterable truth. She is formally sealing the demand. She explicitly links "Dharma" with "her instigation," forcing Dasharatha to accept that abiding by her cruel wish is his only path to religious merit.

कैकेयी अब अंतिम आदेश सुना रही है। वह कहती है 'प्रव्राजय' (वनवास भेजो/निकाल दो)। वह 'त्रिः खलु त्वां ब्रवीमि' (मैं तुमसे तीन बार कहती हूँ) का प्रयोग करती है। भारतीय परंपरा में तीन बार किसी बात को कहना (त्रिवार सत्य) उसे अटल और अंतिम बना देता है। वह राजा को सोचने का या टालने का कोई अवसर नहीं देना चाहती। वह इसे 'धर्म' का जामा पहनाती है, लेकिन स्पष्ट करती है कि यह 'मम अभिचोदनात्' (मेरी प्रेरणा/आदेश) से हो रहा है।
