आहुः सत्यं हि परमं धर्मं धर्मविदो जनाः ।
सत्यमाश्रित्य हि मया त्वं च धर्मं प्रचोदितः ॥ ॥२-१४-३॥
Āhuḥ satyaṃ hi paramaṃ dharmaṃ dharmavido janāḥ । Satyamāśritya hi mayā tvaṃ ca dharmaṃ pracoditaḥ ॥ ॥2-14-3॥
Translation
Those who know Dharma declare that Truth is the supreme Dharma. Taking refuge in that very Truth, I am urging you to uphold your Dharma.

धर्म को जानने वाले लोग 'सत्य' को ही परम धर्म कहते हैं। उसी सत्य का सहारा लेकर मैंने तुम्हें (तुम्हारे) धर्म का पालन करने के लिए प्रेरित किया है।
English Commentary
Kaikeyi invokes the highest moral principle to justify her terrible demand. She quotes the sages (dharmavido janāḥ) saying Truth is the supreme Dharma. By framing her demand as an act of holding Dasharatha to the 'Truth' (satyamāśritya), she positions herself not as a villain, but as a guardian of his spiritual integrity. She claims she is merely 'urging' (pracoditaḥ) him to follow the right path. It is a chilling misuse of scripture, where the letter of the law is used to violate the spirit of justice and love.

कैकेयी यहाँ अपने क्रूर कृत्य को 'धर्म' का आवरण पहना रही है। वह वेदों और शास्त्रों के सिद्धांत 'सत्यं परमं धर्मं' (सत्य ही सर्वोच्च धर्म है) का हवाला देती है। उसका तर्क है कि वह राजा को वनवास के लिए बाध्य नहीं कर रही, बल्कि वह तो राजा की सहायता कर रही है ताकि वे 'सत्यवादी' बने रहें। यह धर्मसंकट का सबसे कठिन क्षण है—जहाँ एक 'सत्य' (वचन पालन) दूसरे 'सत्य' (पिता और राजा का कर्तव्य) का नाश कर रहा है। कैकेयी धर्म के तकनीकी पक्ष का प्रयोग अधर्म करने के लिए कर रही है।
