Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
अपश्यन्तोऽब्रुवन् को बु राज्ञोनः प्रतिपादयेत् ।
न पश्यामश्च राजानमुदितश्च दिवाकरः ॥ ॥२-१५-१५॥
apaśyanto'bruvan ko nu rājñonaḥ pratipādayet । na paśyāmaśca rājānamuditaśca divākaraḥ ॥ ॥2-15-15॥
Translation
Not seeing the King, they said (to each other), "Who will announce us to the King? The sun has risen, and yet we do not see the King."

राजा को न देखकर वे आपस में बोलने लगे—"हम लोगों के आने की सूचना राजा को कौन देगा? सूर्य उदय हो गया है, और अभी तक हमें राजा दिखाई नहीं दे रहे हैं।"
English Commentary
This verse captures the growing anxiety among the gathered elite. The rising of the sun ("uditaśca divākaraḥ") serves as a natural clock; for a King to sleep past sunrise on such a momentous day is highly irregular. The kings express their confusion: "apaśyantaḥ" (not seeing him). They ask who will announce their presence, indicating a breakdown in the usual protocol. The delay creates a palpable tension in the air, transforming the festive atmosphere into one of worry and suspense.

यह श्लोक दरबारी राजाओं की बेचैनी को दर्शाता है। सूर्योदय ('उदितश्च दिवाकरः') एक राजा के जागने और दरबार में आने का अंतिम समय होता है। दशरथ जैसे अनुशासित राजा का इतनी देर तक न आना असामान्य है। वे पूछते हैं, "कौन हमें राजा तक पहुंचाएगा?" (को नः प्रतिपादयेत्)। यह भ्रम और अनिश्चितता का क्षण है। बाहरी चकाचौंध के बीच, राजा की अनुपस्थिति एक अशुभ संकेत देने लगती है। सुमन्त्र, जो वहां से गुजर रहे हैं, इन बातों को सुनते हैं।
