English Commentary
The kings reiterate the readiness of the event for "dhīmataḥ" (the wise/intelligent) Rama. The verse serves as a connector, setting the scene ("iti teṣu bruvāṇeṣu" - while they were speaking thus) for Sumantra's action. Describing the waiting kings as "sārvabhaumān" (sovereigns/lords of the whole earth) emphasizes that the highest powers in the land are kept waiting in ignorance. Their confusion highlights the magnitude of the disruption caused by the events inside the private chambers.
