अब्रवीत्तानिदं सर्वान्सुमन्त्रो राजसत्कृतः ।

abravīttānidaṃ sarvānsumantro rājasatkṛtaḥ । [pṛcchanīyo narapatiḥ saṃśaye nātra kāraṇam] ॥2-15-17॥
Translation
Sumantra, honored by the King, spoke this to all of them: "The Lord of Men (the King) must be inquired after; there is no doubt about this (cause for hesitation)."
हिंदी अनुवाद
राजा द्वारा सम्मानित सुमन्त्र ने उन सब राजाओं से यह कहा—"राजा दशरथ (के स्वास्थ्य/जागने) के विषय में पूछना चाहिए, इसमें कोई संशय नहीं है (अर्थात् मैं पूछने जा रहा हूँ)।"
English Commentary
Sumantra, holding the title "rājasatkṛtaḥ" (honored by the King), steps in to address the restless crowd. He validates their concern. Assuming the role of the bridge between the public and the private, he decides that the King's state must be ascertained immediately. This action shows Sumantra's authority and his closeness to the King; he is one of the few who can disturb the royal privacy at such a time. He aims to quell the rising panic by promising to fetch news.
