Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
स तत्र कैलासनिभाः स्वलंकृताः ।
प्रविश्य कक्ष्यास्त्रिदशालयोपमाः ।
प्रियान् वरान् राममते स्थितान् बहून् ।
व्यपोह्य शुद्धांतमुपस्थितो रथी ॥ ॥२-१५-४३॥
Sa tatra kailāsanibhāḥ svalaṃkṛtāḥ । Praviśya kakṣyāstridaśālayopamāḥ । Priyān varān rāmamate sthitān bahūn । Vyapohya śuddhांतमुपस्थितो रथी ॥ ॥2-15-43॥
Translation
Entering through gateways that were well-adorned and resembled Mount Kailash or the abode of the gods, the charioteer passed many of Rama’s dear and devoted friends, finally reaching the inner apartments.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वह रथी (सुमन्त्र) कैलास पर्वत जैसी श्वेत और devताओं के धाम जैसी सुसज्जित कई कक्ष्याओं (द्वारों/आंगनों) को पार करके, वहां उपस्थित राम के अनेक प्रिय मित्रों को पीछे छोड़ते हुए, अंतःपुर (शुद्धांत) के द्वार पर पहुँचा।
English Commentary
This verse describes the progression into the sanctum of the palace. The Kakshyas are the successive enclosures or courtyards one must pass to reach the inner quarters. Comparing them to Kailash implies they were white, tall, and imposing. Sumantra moves past a crowd of Priyan Varan—dear and excellent friends/guards who are devoted to Rama (Ramamate sthitan). The term Vyapohya suggests he had to weave through or gently push past this crowd of well-wishers. Reaching the Shuddhanta (the pure inner apartments/harem) signifies he has privileged access, as this area is restricted to the closest family and trusted advisors.

यह श्लोक राम के भवन की सुरक्षा व्यवस्था और विन्यास (layout) का वर्णन करता है। प्राचीन महलों में कई 'कक्ष्याएं' (concentric zones or courtyards) होती थीं। सुमन्त्र ने इन कैलास जैसी ऊंची ड्योढ़ियों को पार किया। महत्वपूर्ण बात यह है कि उन्होंने 'राममते स्थितान्' (राम के हित में तत्पर या राम को प्रिय) अनेक मित्रों और रक्षकों को 'व्यपोह्य' (पार करके/हटाकर) आगे बढ़ना पड़ा। इससे पता चलता है कि राम सदैव मित्रों से घिरे रहते थे। अंत में वे 'शुद्धांत' (रनिवास या नितांत निजी कक्ष) के पास पहुँचे जहाँ राम सीता के साथ थे। सुमन्त्र का बिना रोक-टोक अंदर जाना उनके विशेष अधिकार को दर्शाता है।
