Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
प्रययौ तूर्णम् आस्थाय राघवो ज्वलितः श्रिया ।
स पर्जन्यैव आकाशे स्वनवान् अभिनादयन् ॥ ॥२-१६-३१॥
Prayayau tūrṇam āsthāya rāghavo jvalitaḥ śriyā । Sa parjanyaiva ākāśe svanavān abhinādayan ॥ ॥2-16-31॥
Translation
Radiating with splendor, Raghava ascended the chariot and departed swiftly, making a deep sound like a rain-cloud thundering in the sky.
हिंदी अनुवाद
अपनी राजसी शोभा से देदीप्यमान राघव (राम) रथ पर चढ़कर शीघ्रता से चले। वे आकाश में गर्जना करते हुए मेघ (पर्जन्य) के समान गंभीर ध्वनि उत्पन्न कर रहे थे।
English Commentary
The metaphor of Parjanya (the rain-bearing cloud) is highly significant. Just as a cloud promises relief to the parched earth, Rama’s coronation promises prosperity and justice to the kingdom. The rumble of his chariot is compared to thunder, symbolizing authority and power. The phrase jvalitaḥ śriyā (blazing with glory) suggests that Rama was not just physically adorned, but his inner radiance and the aura of impending kingship made him look luminous. It portrays him as a force of nature—powerful yet benevolent.
हिंदी टीका
यहाँ 'पर्जन्य' (वर्षा करने वाले बादल) की उपमा अत्यंत सार्थक है। जैसे तपती धरती के लिए मेघ जीवनदायी वर्षा का संकेत होता है, वैसे ही प्रजा के लिए श्रीराम का राज्याभिषेक सुख और समृद्धि का संकेत है। रथ की घरघराहट को बादलों की गर्जना के समान बताया गया है, जो श्रीराम के प्रभावशाली व्यक्तित्व और सत्ता (Authority) को दर्शाता है। 'ज्वलितः श्रिया' का अर्थ है कि उनका मुखमंडल उस समय एक विशेष आभा से चमक रहा था, जो उनके आंतरिक आनंद और तेज का परिचायक है।
