Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
एष श्रियम् गच्चति राघवो अद्य।
राज प्रसादात् विपुलाम् गमिष्यन् ।
एते वयम् सर्व समृद्ध कामा।
येषाम् अयम् नो भविता प्रशास्ता ॥ ॥२-१६-४४॥
Eṣa śriyam gaccati rāghavo adya। Rāja prasādāt vipulām gamiṣyan । Ete vayam sarva samṛddha kāmā। Yeṣām ayam no bhavitā praśāstā ॥ ॥2-16-44॥
Translation
(The people said): "This Raghava is attaining immense glory today by the grace of the King. All our desires are fulfilled, for he is going to be our ruler."

(लोग कह रहे थे): "ये राघव आज महाराज की कृपा से विपुल (अपार) राजलक्ष्मी को प्राप्त करने जा रहे हैं। हम सभी की कामनाएं पूर्ण हो गई हैं, क्योंकि ये हमारे शासक बनने वाले हैं।"
English Commentary
The citizens' sentiment reveals a deep identification with their future king. They view Rama's ascent not just as his personal achievement, but as the fulfillment of their own desires (samṛddha kāmā). They acknowledge the King’s grace (Rāja prasādāt) in this transition, respecting the established order. The phrase bhavitā praśāstā (will be the ruler) carries a weight of relief and hope; the people believe that under Rama's administration, their prosperity is guaranteed. It signifies the collective consent required for a successful monarchy.
