वराहरुधिराभेन शुचिना च सुगन्धिना ।
अनुलिप्तम् परार्ध्येन चन्दनेन परम्तपम् ॥ ॥२-१६-९॥
Varāharudhirābhena śucinā ca sugandhinā । Anuliptam parārdhyena candanena paramtapam ॥ ॥2-16-9॥
Translation
Rama, the scorcher of foes, was anointed with pure, fragrant, and most excellent red sandalwood paste, which had the color of boar’s blood.

शत्रुओं को संताप देने वाले राम (परंतप) वराह (सूअर) के रक्त जैसी आभा वाले, पवित्र, सुगंधित और बहुमूल्य लाल चंदन से अनुलिप्त (लेप किए हुए) थे।
English Commentary
The description of the sandalwood paste as Varaha-rudhira-abha (shining like boar's blood) is a classical Sanskrit simile for the deep red variety of sandalwood (Rakta Chandana), which was highly dark and prized. While it sounds visceral in translation, it signifies extreme preciousness and a specific, rich hue associated with royalty and vitality. Rama is styled as Paramtapam (scorcher of enemies), contrasting his martial potential with the gentle, fragrant cosmetic application, showing the dual nature of a Kshatriya prince.
