सन्निवर्त्य जनम् सर्वम् शुद्ध अन्तः पुरम् अभ्यगात् ।
तस्मिन् प्रविष्टे पितुर् अन्तिकम् तदा ।
जनः स सर्वो मुदितः नृप आत्मजे ।
प्रतीक्षते तस्य पुनः स्म निर्गमम् ।
यथा उदयम् चन्द्रमसः सरित् पतिः ॥२-१७-२२॥
Sannivartya janam sarvam śuddha antaḥ puram abhyagāt । Tasmin praviṣṭe pitur antikam tadā । Janaḥ sa sarvo muditaḥ nṛpa ātmaje । Pratīkṣate tasya punaḥ sma nirgamam । Yathā udayam candramasaḥ sarit patiḥ ॥ ॥2-17-22॥
Translation
Dismissing all the people, Rama entered the private inner apartments. When the Prince had gone into his father's presence, the joyous crowd waited for his return, just as the Ocean waits for the rising of the Moon.
हिंदी अनुवाद
राम ने सभी लोगों को (बाहर ही) रोक दिया और शुद्ध अंतःपुर में प्रवेश किया। जब राजकुमार पिता के समीप चले गए, तब बाहर खड़ा वह सारा जनसमुदाय उनके बाहर निकलने की प्रतीक्षा उसी प्रकार करने लगा, जैसे समुद्र (सरित्पति) चंद्रमा के उदय की प्रतीक्षा करता है।
English Commentary
This concluding verse of the Sarga uses a magnificent simile. The relationship between Rama and the people is compared to the Moon and the Ocean. Just as the ocean swells and tides rise upon seeing the moon, the hearts of the people swell with joy upon seeing Rama. Rama enters the Shuddha Antahpura (sanctified inner chambers) alone. The crowd waits outside, not with anxiety, but with mudita (joy), confident that their beloved prince will emerge as the anointed King. The metaphor highlights the organic, cosmic bond between the leader and his people.

यह सर्ग का अंतिम श्लोक एक अत्यंत सुंदर उपमा (Simile) प्रस्तुत करता है। राम और प्रजा के संबंध को 'चंद्रमा और समुद्र' के रूप में दिखाया गया है। जैसे चंद्रमा को देखकर समुद्र में ज्वार (उफान) आता है, वैसे ही राम के दर्शन से प्रजा के हृदय में आनंद का सागर उमड़ता है। 'शुद्ध अंतःपुर' वह स्थान है जहाँ केवल परिवार जा सकता है, इसलिए जनता बाहर ही रुक गई। उनकी प्रतीक्षा में बेचैनी नहीं, बल्कि 'मुदित' (प्रसन्नता) भाव है, क्योंकि उन्हें विश्वास है कि राम जब बाहर आएंगे तो राजा बनकर आएंगे।
