शोभमानम् असम्बाधम् तम् राज पथम् उत्तमम् ।
सम्व्Rतम् विविधैः पण्यैः भक्ष्यैः उच्च अवचैः अपि ॥ ॥२-१७-५॥
Śobhamānam asambādham tam rāja patham uttamam । Samvṛtam vividhaiḥ paṇyaiḥ bhakṣyaiḥ ucca avacaiḥ api ॥ ॥2-17-5॥
Translation
That excellent royal road looked beautiful and was unobstructed (despite the crowds). It was covered with various merchandise and different kinds of food and edibles.
हिंदी अनुवाद
वह उत्तम राजपथ (भीड़ और सामान होने पर भी) सुशोभित और बाधारहित (असम्बाध) था। वह विविध प्रकार की व्यापारिक वस्तुओं और अनेक प्रकार के (उच्च-अवच) खाद्य पदार्थों से भरा था।
English Commentary
Despite the abundance of Paṇyaiḥ (merchandise) and Bhakṣyaiḥ (foodstuffs) heaped along the way, the road remained Asambādham (unobstructed/not congested). This speaks to the width of the royal highway and the discipline of the crowd. The food is described as Ucca-avacaiḥ (high and low / various varieties), implying a feast for all strata of society. It depicts a city that is not only wealthy but also well-planned and capable of handling massive public events gracefully.

प्रशासन की कुशलता यहाँ 'असम्बाधम्' (बाधा रहित/Unobstructed) शब्द से पता चलती है। इतना सामान और भीड़ होने के बाद भी ट्रैफिक जाम नहीं था। 'भक्ष्यैः उच्चावचैः' का अर्थ है विभिन्न प्रकार के खाद्य पदार्थ—कुछ चबाने वाले, कुछ चूसने वाले, या महंगे और सस्ते दोनों प्रकार के पकवान। यह दर्शाता है कि उत्सव में भोजन की प्रचुरता थी और हर वर्ग के लिए कुछ न कुछ उपलब्ध था। अयोध्या एक सुव्यवस्थित (Well-managed) नगर था।
