यदि त्वभिहितं राज्ञा त्वयि तन्न विपत्स्यते ।
ततोऽहमभिधास्यामि न ह्येष त्वयि वक्ष्यति ॥ ॥२-१८-२६॥
yadi tvabhihitam rājñā tvayi tanna vipatsyate |
tato'hamabhidhāsyāmi na hyeṣa tvayi vakṣyati ॥2-18-26॥
Translation
If what is stated by the King will not prove false with you, then I shall speak; for indeed, he will not be able to say it to you himself.

यदि राजा द्वारा कही गई बात तुम्हारे द्वारा विफल नहीं की जाएगी, तो मैं तुम्हें बताऊंगी; क्योंकि ये स्वयं तुमसे (वह बात) नहीं कह सकेंगे।
English Commentary
Kaikeyi admits that Dasharatha is physically and emotionally incapable of delivering this command himself ("he will not speak it to you"). She positions herself as the mouthpiece of the King's obligation. By demanding that the King's word "not fail" with Rama, she is ensuring that Rama honors the implied wish of the King (the boons) even if the King cannot voice them. This creates a situation where Rama must obey a command that his father is too heartbroken to utter, solely based on the stepmother's testimony of a past promise.

कैकेयी यहाँ स्पष्ट करती हैं कि राजा दशरथ स्वयं अपने मुख से यह कठोर आज्ञा देने में असमर्थ हैं। 'न ह्येष त्वयि वक्ष्यति'—यह वाक्यांश राजा की विवशता और राम के प्रति उनके अपार प्रेम को दर्शाता है। कैकेयी जानती हैं कि दशरथ राम को वन जाने के लिए कभी नहीं कह पाएंगे, इसलिए वह राम से वचन ले रही हैं कि राजा का विचार (जो कैकेयी ने थोपा है) राम द्वारा ठुकराया नहीं जाएगा। वह राजा की 'आवाज़' बन रही हैं, लेकिन शब्द और मंशा पूरी तरह उनकी अपनी है।
