सा हृष्टा तस्य तत् वाक्यम् श्रुत्वा रामस्य कैकयी ।
प्रस्थानम् श्रद्दधाना हि त्वरयाम् आस राघवम् ॥२-१९-१२॥
sā hṛṣṭā tasya tat vākyam śrutvā rāmasya kaikayī |
prasthānam śraddadhānā hi tvarayām āsa rāghavam ॥2-19-12॥
Translation
Hearing those words of Rama and trusting in his departure, Kaikeyi was delighted and hurried Raghava up.
हिंदी अनुवाद
राम के उस वचन को सुनकर और उनके प्रस्थान (वन जाने) पर विश्वास करके, वह कैकेयी बहुत प्रसन्न हुई और उसने राघव को जल्दी करने के लिए प्रेरित किया।
English Commentary
This verse captures the depth of Kaikeyi's cruelty. While the King weeps and the Prince prepares for exile, Kaikeyi is described as 'delighted' (hrishta). Her joy stems solely from the confirmation that her plot is succeeding. Trusting Rama's word (sraddadhana), she now feels secure enough to push him. She 'hurries him up' (tvarayam asa), revealing her anxiety that any delay might lead to a reversal of the situation. It highlights her complete lack of empathy for Rama, whom she supposedly loved, exposing her total consumption by political ambition and insecurity.

यहाँ कैकेयी की निष्ठुरता अपने चरम पर है। जहाँ पिता रो रहे हैं और पुत्र वन जा रहा है, वहाँ कैकेयी 'हृष्टा' (प्रसन्न) हैं। उसे राम के दुख से कोई सहानुभूति नहीं है, बल्कि उसे राहत है कि राम जा रहे हैं। 'त्वरयाम् आस' (जल्दी मचाई) दिखाता है कि वह अभी भी आशंकित है कि कहीं राम का मन न बदल जाए या कोई बाधा न आ जाए। वह राम को सोचने का या किसी से मिलने का समय नहीं देना चाहती। यह श्लोक उसके चरित्र के पतन और स्वार्थान्धता को पूरी तरह से नंगा करता है।
