व्रीडा अन्वितः स्वयम् यच् च नृपः त्वाम् न अभिभाषते ।
न एतत् किम्चिन् नर श्रेष्ठ मन्युर् एषो अपनीयताम् ॥२-१९-१५॥
vrīḍā anvitaḥ svayam yac ca nṛpaḥ tvām na abhibhāṣate |
na etat kimcin nara śreṣṭha manyur eṣo apanīyatām ॥2-19-15॥
Translation
Because the King is filled with shame, he does not speak to you himself; it is nothing else. O best among men, let this worry/anger be dispelled.
हिंदी अनुवाद
राजा स्वयं लज्जा-वश तुमसे बात नहीं कर रहे हैं, इसके सिवा और कोई बात नहीं है। हे नरश्रेष्ठ! तुम अपने मन से इस (राजा के क्रोध के) विचार को निकाल दो।
English Commentary
Answering Rama's earlier query about Dasharatha's silence, Kaikeyi attributes it to 'shame' (vrida). She assures Rama that there is no other hidden reason (na etat kimcin). By telling Rama to dispel any manyu (anger/distress) regarding the King's attitude, she aims to keep Rama calm and compliant. Addressing him as 'Nara-shrestha,' she flatters him to ensure he acts nobly. Essentially, she is managing the situation to prevent Rama from probing the King's condition too deeply, which might reveal the extent of the King's coercion and heartbreak.

राम ने प्रश्न किया था कि राजा क्यों नहीं बोल रहे। कैकेयी अब उसका उत्तर देती हैं, लेकिन अपने स्वार्थ के अनुकूल। वह कहती हैं कि राजा 'व्रीडा अन्वितः' (लज्जा से युक्त) हैं। वह राम को आश्वस्त करती हैं कि राजा का मौन क्रोध के कारण नहीं है, इसलिए राम को भी 'मन्यु' (क्षोभ/क्रोध) नहीं करना चाहिए। 'नरश्रेष्ठ' संबोधन का प्रयोग फिर से राम को उनके उच्च नैतिक स्तर की याद दिलाने के लिए है, ताकि वे राजा के मौन का गलत अर्थ निकालकर विद्रोह न कर दें। वह राजा की विवशता को ढाल बनाकर अपना काम साध रही हैं।
