यद् अत्रभवतः किम्चित् शक्यम् कर्तुम् प्रियम् मया ।
प्राणान् अपि परित्यज्य सर्वथा कृतम् एव तत् ॥२-१९-२१॥
yad atrabhavataḥ kimcit śakyam kartum priyam mayā |
prāṇān api parityajya sarvathā kṛtam eva tat ॥2-19-21॥
Translation
"Whatever pleasing act can be done by me for his Revered Majesty, consider it done by all means, even if I have to give up my life."

"इन पूज्य पिताजी का जो कुछ भी प्रिय कार्य मैं कर सकता हूँ, वह प्राणों को त्याग कर भी मैं अवश्य करूँगा।"
English Commentary
Rama expresses the absolute nature of his devotion to Dasharatha. Using the respectful term atrabhavatah (His Revered Highness), he asserts that pleasing his father is his highest priority. He raises the stakes from exile to life itself (pranan api parityajya), indicating that living in the forest is a trivial sacrifice compared to what he is willing to offer. The phrase "consider it done" (krtam eva tat) leaves no room for doubt. Rama separates the person of his father from the act of banishment, continuing to love and serve the man even while suffering from his command.

राम की पितृ-भक्ति यहाँ चरम पर है। वे राजा दशरथ के लिए 'अत्रभवतः' (आदरणीय/पूज्य) शब्द का प्रयोग करते हैं। राम कहते हैं कि वनवास तो बहुत छोटी बात है; यदि पिता के प्रिय के लिए 'प्राण' (Life) भी देने पड़ें, तो वे संकोच नहीं करेंगे। 'कृतम् एव तत्' (वह हो ही गया समझो) राम की दृढ़ प्रतिज्ञा को दर्शाता है। यह कैकेयी को आश्वस्त करने के लिए है कि राम किसी भी स्थिति में पीछे नहीं हटने वाले। राम का यह समर्पण भय के कारण नहीं, बल्कि प्रेम और कर्तव्य की पराकाष्ठा के कारण है।
