आभिषेचनिकम् भाण्डम् कृत्वा रामः प्रदक्षिणम् ।
शनैः जगाम सापेक्षो दृष्टिम् तत्र अविचालयन् ॥ ॥२-१९-३१॥
Ābhiṣecanikam bhāṇḍam kṛtvā Rāmaḥ pradakṣiṇam |
Śanaiḥ jagāma sāpekṣo dṛṣṭim tatra avicālayan ॥2-19-31॥
Translation
After circumambulating the auspicious vessels and materials collected for the coronation, Rama walked away slowly, keeping his gaze fixed on them without wavering.

राज्याभिषेक के लिए रखी हुई मांगलिक सामग्री की परिक्रमा करके, श्रीराम उस पर से दृष्टि हटाए बिना, धीरे-धीरे और सावधानीपूर्वक वहां से आगे बढ़े।
English Commentary
This is one of the most poignant moments in the Ayodhya Kanda. The materials for the coronation (Abhishechanika Bhandam) represent the destiny that was promised to Rama just hours ago. By circumambulating them, Rama acknowledges the sanctity of the ritual and the throne, even though he has been denied it. He does not kick them aside in anger nor ignore them. He walks away shanaih (slowly), indicating a lack of panic or haste. Keeping his gaze fixed on them suggests a mindful farewell to his role as the Prince Regent. It shows that while he is detached from the outcome, he is not indifferent to the gravity of the occasion. It is a silent, respectful departure from the life he was prepared to lead.

यह दृश्य अत्यंत भावुक है। राज्याभिषेक की सामग्री तैयार है, किन्तु अब वह राम के काम नहीं आएगी। राम उस सामग्री की उपेक्षा नहीं करते, बल्कि उसकी भी 'प्रदक्षिणा' करके उसका सम्मान करते हैं, क्योंकि वह सामग्री धर्म और राज्य-सत्ता का प्रतीक है। 'शनैः जगाम' (धीरे-धीरे चले) दर्शाता है कि राम भाग नहीं रहे हैं, न ही वे भयभीत हैं; उनकी चाल में अब भी वही राजसी धैर्य है। वह सामग्री को देखते हुए जाते हैं, जो यह दिखाता है कि उन्हें राज्य का मोह तो नहीं है, किन्तु उस अवसर की पवित्रता का भान अवश्य है। यह विदा लेने का एक मौन और सम्मानजनक तरीका है। वह उस नियति को स्वीकार कर रहे हैं जो उनके सामने थी, और उस नियति का भी सम्मान कर रहे हैं जो अब उनसे छीन ली गई है।
