अहम् हि सीताम् राज्यम् च प्राणान् इष्टान् धनानि च ।
हृष्टः भ्रात्रे स्वयम् दद्याम् भरताय अप्रचोदितः ॥२-१९-७॥
aham hi sītām rājyam ca prāṇān iṣṭān dhanāni ca |
hṛṣṭaḥ bhrātre svayam dadyām bharatāya apracoditaḥ ॥2-19-7॥
Translation
Indeed, I would gladly give Sita, the kingdom, my cherished life, and riches to my brother Bharata on my own accord, even without being urged.

मैं भरत के लिए सीता, राज्य, अपने प्रिय प्राण और समस्त धन भी, बिना किसी के कहे, स्वयं प्रसन्नतापूर्वक दे सकता हूँ।
English Commentary
This verse is the pinnacle of fraternal love. Rama declares he would sacrifice his kingdom, wealth, life (pranan), and even Sita for Bharata, unprompted (apracoditah). Mentioning Sita here is profound; it does not imply treating her as a chattel to be traded, but signifies that Rama values Bharata more than his own domestic bliss and deepest personal attachment. It illustrates total self-abnegation. Rama conveys that no external pressure was needed for this transfer of power; his innate love for his brother was sufficient motive. It stands as a testament to his ideal of brotherhood.

यह श्लोक भ्रातृ-प्रेम का एक अद्वितीय उदाहरण है। राम कहते हैं कि 'अप्रचोदितः' (बिना प्रेरित किए/बिना मांगे) वे भरत के लिए अपना सर्वस्व त्याग सकते हैं। यहाँ 'सीता' का उल्लेख अत्यंत महत्वपूर्ण और संवेदनशील है। इसका अर्थ यह नहीं है कि सीता कोई वस्तु हैं जिसे दान किया जाए, बल्कि यह कि राम अपने गृहस्थ सुख और जीवन के सबसे प्रिय संबंध का भी बलिदान भरत की खुशी के लिए कर सकते हैं। यह अतिशयोक्ति राम के त्याग की सीमा को दर्शाती है—उनके लिए भाई का संतोष उनके अपने जीवन और सुख (प्राण और सीता) से भी बढ़कर है।
