तत् आश्वासय हि इमम् त्वम् किम् न्व् इदम् यन् मही पतिः ।
वसुधा आसक्त नयनो मन्दम् अश्रूणि मुन्चति ॥२-१९-९॥
tat āśvāsaya hi imam tvam kim nv idam yan mahī patiḥ |
vasudhā āsakta nayano mandam aśrūṇi muncati ॥2-19-9॥
Translation
Therefore, do comfort him. Why is it that the Lord of the Earth sheds tears silently, with his eyes fixed on the ground?
हिंदी अनुवाद
इसलिए आप इन्हें (महाराज को) आश्वस्त करें। यह क्या बात है कि महीपति (राजा) पृथ्वी पर दृष्टि जमाए हुए धीरे-धीरे आँसू बहा रहे हैं?
English Commentary
Immediately after accepting his fate, Rama shifts his focus to his father's distress. He urges Kaikeyi to comfort (ashvasaya) the King. Observing Dasharatha gazing at the floor (vasudha asakta nayano) and shedding tears, Rama perceives the deep shame and sorrow paralyzing his father. Instead of seeking comfort for himself, the exile-bound prince seeks comfort for the King. This demonstrates Rama's supreme selflessness. He does not hold Dasharatha responsible for the suffering; rather, he sees him as a victim of circumstances needing emotional support, which he asks Kaikeyi to provide.

अपनी स्थिति स्वीकार करने के बाद, राम का ध्यान तुरंत अपने पिता के कष्ट पर जाता है। वे कैकेयी से अनुरोध करते हैं कि वे राजा को सांत्वना दें। राम देखते हैं कि राजा 'वसुधा आसक्त नयनो' (ज़मीन की ओर देख रहे हैं) और रो रहे हैं। दशरथ शर्म और दुख से इतने दबे हुए हैं कि वे आँख भी नहीं मिला पा रहे। राम, जो स्वयं वन जा रहे हैं, अपनी चिंता छोड़कर उस व्यक्ति की चिंता कर रहे हैं जिसने उन्हें निर्वासित किया है। यह राम की करुणा और स्थितप्रज्ञता का प्रमाण है। वे कैकेयी को राजा की देखभाल की जिम्मेदारी सौंपते हैं।
