Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
गमिष्ये दण्डकारण्यम् किमनेनासनेन मे ।
विष्टरासनयोग्यो हि कालोऽयम् मामुपस्थितः ॥ ॥२-२०-२८॥
Gamiṣye daṇḍakāraṇyam kimanenāsanena me । Viṣṭarāsanayogyo hi kālo'yam māmupasthitaḥ ॥ ॥2-20-28॥
Translation
"I am going to the Dandaka forest; of what use is this seat to me? The time has come for me to be worthy only of a seat made of Kusa grass (Vishtara)."
हिंदी अनुवाद
"मैं दंडकारण्य जा रहा हूँ, तो इस (राजसी) आसन का मेरे लिए क्या उपयोग? अब मेरे लिए कुश के आसन (विष्टर) के योग्य समय आ गया है।"
English Commentary
This verse signifies the immediate renunciation. Rama questions the utility of a royal seat when his destination is the wild Dandaka forest. The contrast is sharp: the golden throne vs. the vishtara (a seat made of straw or grass). Rama acknowledges the Kala (Time/Destiny), stating that the time has arrived which demands austerity from him. He displays no resistance to this change, showing his adaptability and readiness to embrace the hardships required by his Dharma.

यहाँ राम स्पष्ट रूप से राजसी सुखों का त्याग करते हैं। 'किमनेनासनेन' (इस आसन से क्या?) कहकर वह भौतिक सुखों के प्रति अपनी अनासक्ति प्रकट करते हैं। 'विष्टर' (कुश का आसन) तपस्या और संयम का प्रतीक है। राम काल (समय) की शक्ति को पहचानते हैं और उसे स्वीकार करते हैं। वह शिकायत नहीं कर रहे, बल्कि यह मान रहे हैं कि समय का चक्र उन्हें अब तपस्वी बनने का निर्देश दे रहा है। यह गीता के निष्काम कर्मयोग का पूर्व रूप है।
