एतैरन्यैश्च बहुभिर्देवि देवसमैः कृतम् ।
पितुर्वचनमक्लीबम् करिष्यामि पितुर्खितम् ॥२-२१-३३॥
etairanyaiśca bahubhirdevi devasamaiḥ kṛtam |
piturvacanamaklībam kariṣyāmi piturśitam ॥2-21-33॥
Translation
O Goddess, such deeds were done by these and many other god-like men. I, too, shall fearlessly fulfill the beneficial word of my father.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे देवी! इन और अन्य बहुत से देवतुल्य पुरुषों ने पिता के वचनों का पालन किया है। मैं भी पिता के कल्याणकारी वचन का निर्भीकता से पालन करूँगा।
English Commentary
Rama synthesizes his examples, categorizing these ancestors as "god-like" (deva-samaiḥ). He reframes submission as an act of strength. The word aklibam (non-cowardly/manly) is a direct response to Lakshmana’s accusation that Rama is being weak or passive. Rama asserts that true strength lies in the disciplined adherence to duty, even when it is painful. He positions his decision not as a surrender to Kaikeyi, but as an active alignment with the conduct of the greatest heroes of the past.
