न खल्व् एतन् मया एकेन क्रियते पितृ शासनम् ।
एतैरपि कृतम् देवि ये मया तव कीर्तिताः ॥२-२१-३४॥
na khalv etan mayā ekena kriyate pitṛ śāsanam |
etairapi kṛtam devi ye mayā tava kīrtitāḥ ॥2-21-34॥
Translation
Indeed, this obedience to the father's command is not being practiced by me alone. It was performed by those whom I have mentioned to you, O Goddess.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे देवी! निश्चय ही यह पितृ-आज्ञा का पालन अकेले मेरे द्वारा नहीं किया जा रहा है। जिन महापुरुषों की मैंने चर्चा की, उन्होंने भी ऐसा ही किया है।
English Commentary
Rama continues to normalize his decision. By emphasizing that he is not a solitary victim ("not done by me alone"), he places his actions within a collective cultural memory. He tries to alleviate Kausalya's distress by showing her that he is joining a fraternity of virtuous souls who prioritized duty over comfort. This is a psychological appeal: he asks his mother to view his exile not as an aberration or a disaster, but as a conformity to high standards set by the ancients.

राम कौशल्या को सांत्वना देने का प्रयास कर रहे हैं कि वे कोई अनोखा या विचित्र कार्य नहीं कर रहे। जब हम किसी कष्ट को अकेले भोगते हैं तो वह असहनीय होता है, लेकिन जब हम जानते हैं कि महान लोगों ने भी वही मार्ग चुना था, तो मन को बल मिलता है। राम अपनी माँ को यह अहसास दिलाना चाहते हैं कि उनका पुत्र एक महान, स्थापित मार्ग (महाजनो येन गतः स पन्थाः) पर चल रहा है, इसलिए उन्हें शोक नहीं, बल्कि गर्व होना चाहिए।
