Srimad Valmiki Ramayana
अम्ब सम्हृत्य सम्भारान् दुःखम् हृदि निगृह्य च ।
वनवासकृता बुद्धिर्मम धर्म्यानुवर्त्यताम् ॥ ॥२-२१-४९॥
Amba samhṛtya sambhārān duḥkham hṛdi nigṛhya ca । Vanavāsakṛtā buddhirmama dharmyānuvartyatām ॥ ॥2-21-49॥
Translation
O Mother, having removed the preparations (for the coronation) and suppressing the grief in your heart, please follow my righteous resolve regarding the forest exile.
हिंदी अनुवाद
हे माँ! (राज्याभिषेक की) पूजा सामग्रियों को हटा लीजिए और दुःख को हृदय में रोककर, वनवास के लिए किए गए मेरे धर्मयुक्त निश्चय (बुद्धि) का आप भी अनुसरण (समर्थन) करें।
English Commentary
Rama gives a concrete, painful instruction: samhṛtya sambhārān (remove the installation materials). The physical presence of the coronation items serves as a painful reminder of what was lost; removing them is the first step in acceptance. He reiterates the need to suppress grief (nigṛhya) and asks her to align her will with his. He describes his decision to go to the forest not as a whim, but as dharmya (righteous/lawful). Rama is asking for validation; he does not just want to leave, he wants his mother to agree that his leaving is the right thing to do. It demands immense strength from Kausalya to dismantle the celebration of her son's glory to pave the way for his hardship.

इस श्लोक में राम व्यावहारिक निर्देश दे रहे हैं। 'सम्भारान्' उन सामग्रियों को संदर्भित करता है जो राज्याभिषेक के लिए एकत्रित की गई थीं। उन्हें हटाना इस बात का प्रतीक है कि अब राज्याभिषेक का अध्याय बंद हो चुका है और वनवास का अध्याय शुरू हो रहा है। राम माता से कहते हैं कि वे उनकी 'बुद्धि' (निर्णय) का अनुसरण करें जो 'धर्म्या' (धर्म सम्मत) है। अक्सर माता-पिता बच्चों का मार्गदर्शन करते हैं, लेकिन यहाँ राम धर्म के ज्ञाता के रूप में अपनी माता से कह रहे हैं कि वे उनके निर्णय का साथ दें। यह कौशल्या के लिए अत्यंत कठिन है कि जिस उत्सव की तैयारी उन्होंने की थी, उसे वे स्वयं अपने हाथों से हटा दें, किन्तु राम उन्हें सत्य स्वीकार करने के लिए कह रहे हैं।
